In Ukraine, in the Kyiv region, the SBU and SBI officers detained another Russian agent who was passing information to the FSB about ex-convicts currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The perpetrator, who worked as the head of the social, educational and psychological work department in one of the correctional colonies in the Kyiv region, was recruited by the FSB.
According to the SBU, the agent was passing on to the occupiers personal data about former prisoners who are currently fighting on the front lines as part of the assault units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The Russian special services were interested in information about the convicts, their release dates, as well as the military units where they perform combat missions. Using access to official documentation, the agent tried to pass on important data to establish the locations of the Defense Forces and the possible recruitment of Ukrainian soldiers.
During the detention, the agent was “on the run” when he tried to send another “report” to the FSB. Five mobile phones and SIM cards, which he used to communicate with Russian curators, were seized from him. According to the investigation, the occupiers promised the agent evacuation to Luhansk in exchange for cooperation.
The detainee was charged with treason under martial law. The court chose custody as a preventive measure for him.
