On the night of October 10, Russia carried out one of the most powerful combined attacks on Ukraine in recent times. Kyiv, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Kyiv region and other regions were hit. Kamikaze drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, including probable Iskander-Ms or their North Korean counterparts, were used.
The capital of Ukraine experienced a difficult night: after a series of explosions, power went out in many areas, the metro stopped on the left bank, fires and destruction of residential buildings were recorded. As of this morning, at least 12 injured Kyiv residents were reported, eight of whom were hospitalized.
The left bank of Kyiv was left without electricity and water. In the Pechersk district, debris from a downed drone hit a high-rise building, causing a fire on the upper floors. In Holosievo, facades and cars were damaged, in other areas - broken windows and destroyed infrastructure. Part of ground transport was stopped, metro service was limited.
In Zaporizhia, the consequences of the attack were tragic - a 7-year-old boy died, his parents were injured. In total, more than a dozen strikes were carried out in the city overnight with various types of weapons. High-rise buildings, the private sector, and energy facilities were damaged. Traffic through the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant dam was blocked.
Tens of thousands of households in the Kyiv region were left without electricity. In Brovary, rocket fragments destroyed kiosks and damaged residential buildings. In Kaniv, a person was injured and a hydroelectric dam was damaged as a result of falling rocket fragments. The authorities transferred critical infrastructure facilities to power from generators.
In Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions, strikes on energy facilities were also recorded. In Kryvyi Rih, three people were injured, and in Poltava region, more than 16,000 families were left without electricity. Rescuers are eliminating the consequences of the attacks despite repeated airstrikes.
Russia continues to target energy and civilian infrastructure, trying to leave Ukrainians without electricity, water, and heat ahead of winter. Energy officials promise a gradual restoration of power as soon as the security situation allows.
