The recruitment of prisoners who expressed a desire to serve has become a separate direction for the Third Assault Brigade (3rd Assault Brigade), said Maksym Zhorin, deputy commander of the brigade.
“It was the right decision to finally give them this opportunity,” he believes.
In addition, Zhorin noted that after the Law on Mobilization came into force, more volunteers began to join the brigade as part of the recruitment campaign.
“Now the percentage that we close at the expense of mobilized people has become smaller. But among mobilized people there is still a large number of adequate, promising fighters and representatives of professions important to the army. We try to appoint people to positions according to their skills and knowledge,” Zhorin said.
He added that many want to be stormtroopers, but for many this role is not suitable: “That's why we are looking for other positions for them.”.
