In the very center of Kyiv, on Khreshchatyk Street, a loud fight took place involving three young men. All of them were intoxicated, behaved aggressively, and provoked random passersby into conflicts. Ultimately, it ended with the brutal beating of two Kyiv residents and the arrest of the attackers.
According to the Kyiv police, it all started with an attack on a 21-year-old resident of the capital, who was returning home late at night. The young men first started a verbal altercation, after which they attacked him with their fists.
When another passerby, a 37-year-old man, made a remark to the attackers, they turned their aggression on him. He was knocked to the ground and kicked, preventing him from getting up. Witnesses called the police, and one of the attackers was arrested on the spot. The other two were arrested a short time later.
According to the investigation, all three are residents of Kyiv aged 19 to 22. It is noteworthy that two of them already have criminal records for similar offenses.
All three are currently under suspicion under Part 3 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — hooliganism committed by a group of persons with the use of violence and resistance to citizens who tried to stop the offense. The sanction of this article provides for up to 5 years of imprisonment.
The police emphasize the inadmissibility of aggression in public places and urge citizens to report such incidents immediately.
