On the evening of May 10, Kharkiv was rocked by another fatal accident. At the intersection of Heroiv Kharkov Avenue and Energetikov Street, the driver of a Skoda Octavia drove into a prohibited traffic light, where he collided with a KAMAZ truck. Three people died as a result of the powerful impact.
According to preliminary data, the Skoda ignored a red light at high speed and literally crashed into a KAMAZ-4310 truck that was moving legally. The impact was so strong that the driver of the car and two passengers died instantly - doctors only declared them dead. The deceased were 50, 43 and approximately 45 years old.
Kharkiv police have opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of traffic rules, which caused the death of several people. The investigation is currently ongoing. Law enforcement officers are investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy, including the technical condition of the cars, speed, and possible alcohol consumption before the trip.
The scene was cordoned off, and investigators, experts, and rescuers were working at the intersection. The collision once again confirmed that inattention on the road can cost the lives of several people at once.
