In 2024, Ukrainians became less inclined to buy new cars with gasoline engines, although the market has not lost its attractiveness. According to the UkrAvtoprom portal, the number of new passenger cars with gasoline engines amounted to 27.9 thousand units, which is 2% less than in the previous year.
A decrease in the share of gasoline cars in total new car sales was also recorded. While in 2023 gasoline models occupied 47% of the market, in 2024 this figure decreased to 40%.
Despite this decline, certain models continue to remain popular among Ukrainian drivers. The Mazda CX-5 crossover was in the greatest demand in 2024, becoming the leader among gasoline cars, with 1,738 units sold.
The second and third positions in the ranking were taken by the Kia Sportage (1,582 cars) and Renault Duster (1,553 cars). The top five also included the Skoda Octavia (1,278 cars) and Hyundai Tucson (1,210 cars).
In the segment of imported used cars with gasoline engines, the leader was the Volkswagen Golf with a result of 7,219 units, followed by the Audi Q5 (4,578 cars) and the Volkswagen Tiguan (4,414 cars).
