Rising fuel prices are forcing Ukrainians to increasingly think about fuel-efficient cars. There are already dozens of affordable models on the market that consume up to 5.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.
After a sharp increase in fuel prices, Ukrainian drivers began to look more actively at cars with low consumption. The reason for the price jump, in particular, was geopolitical factors and hostilities in the Middle East, which affected global energy markets.
Against this background, interest in compact and hybrid cars has grown, which allow for significant savings on daily expenses. In the Ukrainian budget segment, models with a consumption of up to 5.5 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle are already available - both gasoline, diesel or hybrid.
Among the most affordable options are compact city cars. For example, the FIAT Panda with a mild hybrid system consumes about 4 liters of fuel per 100 km and costs from 570 thousand hryvnias. A similar segment is occupied by the Hyundai i10, which consumes up to 5.5 l/100 km and is offered with simple but sufficient equipment for city trips.
In the budget sedan segment, the Renault Taliant, the successor to the popular Logan, is attracting attention. Its turbo engine provides a fuel consumption of 5.5 liters, and a large trunk makes the model attractive for family use.
At the same time, more and more Ukrainians are paying attention to hybrids. For example, the Citroen C3 Hybrid consumes about 5 liters of fuel, and the Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid — one of the most affordable full hybrids on the market — combines economy with power of over 160 horsepower.
The crossover segment is also seeing more fuel-efficient models. The Renault Duster with a diesel engine shows a combined fuel consumption of less than 5 liters, while the new Opel Frontera and Citroen C3 Aircross Hybrid offer modern hybrid technologies with a consumption of around 5.3 l/100 km.
Among the more technological options are the Peugeot 2008 Hybrid, which combines economy (about 4.6 l/100 km) with modern equipment, as well as the MG ZS HEV - a powerful hybrid crossover with a consumption of about 5.1 liters and acceleration to 100 km/h in less than 9 seconds.
Experts note that the trend for economical cars in Ukraine will only intensify. High fuel prices, uncertainty in energy markets, and the general economic situation stimulate demand for transport with low operating costs.
In the coming years, the share of hybrids and small cars is likely to grow, as they allow drivers to adapt to new realities without a significant increase in costs.
