There is a continuous battle on the front lines, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) mainly lack artillery shells and new military personnel. The occupiers are active in trying to identify weak points along the front line, with the main attacks on Chasiv Yar and Toretsk. This was reported by a veteran of military operations and a military expert Yevhen Dyky.
The situation at the front requires attention, in particular, the lack of human resources and means for conducting artillery operations. Dyky calls to stop following maps and analyze the real situation. He emphasizes that information about breakthroughs or stabilization of the front cannot be fully reflected on the maps.
"No map will convey to you the reality of the situation at the front, where there is a continuous battle 24/7," Dykiy notes. “The enemy may take some positions, but then they may be pushed back. Stabilization does not mean that the enemy has left its positions, it means that we resisted the attacks and repelled them."
However, according to a veteran of the anti-terrorist operation, summarizing the situation, we can say that it is like "three steps forward by the Russians and two steps that the Armed Forces managed to repulse", that is, the occupiers are gradually continuing their offensive. At the moment, they came quite close to Toretsk.
"On their part, the election of Toretsk has no strategic significance, they are simply trying to capture where the defense is vulnerable," Dykiy emphasizes. "However, it is not planned to surrender Toretsk without a fight, although its capture will help the enemy to freely maneuver on one of the flanks for a further offensive on Chasiv Yar."
The ex-military points out that there is a critical shortage of both ammunition and human resources at the front. This is the main thing that those who are in the rear should know.
"I don't want to divulge military secrets, but currently even special units of the GUR are participating in Chasov Yar." This shows how deficient the situation with soldiers is," Dykiy notes. "Maintaining the defense only with the help of elite special forces is like hammering nails with a microscope."
The enemy has a specific goal – to capture Chasiv Yar at any cost, says the ATO veteran. Whole agglomerations of four cities are now under threat: Kramatorsk, Slovyansk, Kostiantynivka and Druzhkivka. However, Chasiv Yar is held very firmly, as it has strong fortifications, so the General Staff of Ukraine sends there all possible ammunition stocks and reserves that are currently available.
On April 2, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced that during April, Russian troops attacked peaceful settlements in Ukraine with the help of more than 300 missiles and the same number of Shahed drones. In addition, the enemy launched more than 3,200 guided aerial bombs.
