Ukrainian scrap metal producers have resumed exports of raw materials to Transnistria after a year-long pause, according to data from the State Customs Service of Ukraine, Oboz.ua reports.
In July 2025, the exporter was D-Kamet LLC, which last year supplied scrap to the Moldovan Metallurgical Plant in Rybnitsa. The plant is owned by Russians and actually operates in the territory of an unrecognized enclave.
According to customs documents, the country of destination of the consignments is Moldova, but the final delivery point is Rybnitsa station in Transnistria.
This is happening against the backdrop of a shortage of scrap metal in Ukraine, which has intensified after large-scale destruction of industry, the occupation of some territories, and a decline in domestic procurement volumes. Despite this, export volumes are growing.
As a reminder, in August 2024, D-Kamet shipped 276 tons of Ukrainian scrap to the MMZ for the first time since the start of the full-scale war. Although the plant fell under Ukrainian sanctions in 2018, it was removed from the list in 2019 without explanation.
