The tragic event occurred on Monday, June 23, near the village of Shevchenkove, Khmelnytskyi district. A 12-year-old local resident who was riding a Suzuki moped died at a railway crossing. The press service of the Khmelnytskyi regional police reported the incident.
According to preliminary information, at about 2:00 p.m., the boy was trying to cross the railway tracks at an unregulated crossing. At that moment, a trolleybus driven by a 39-year-old man was moving on the Skibnevo-Yarmolinka railway section. As a result of the collision, the child received fatal injuries and died on the spot.
The police have launched a pre-trial investigation under Part 3 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of safety rules for the movement or operation of railway transport, which led to the death of a person. Investigative actions are currently underway to establish the circumstances of the tragedy.
The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
