In the city of Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region, police are investigating the brutal murder of a three-year-old child. According to preliminary information, a 32-year-old woman, the girl's mother, is suspected of committing the crime. The child was found dead in the apartment where she lived with her mother.
According to police, neighbors called the police because of screams and crying coming from the apartment. When police arrived at the scene, the child was no longer showing signs of life. The mother was unable to provide a clear explanation of what had happened.
Information is circulating on social media that the woman may have performed ritual acts on her daughter. Local residents claim that she dressed the child in a white dress and a wreath, forced her to repeat certain words, and the next morning drowned her in the bathtub. Everything was recorded on video. There is currently no official confirmation of these details.
Law enforcement officials reported that the suspect was not registered in a psychiatric facility. However, one of her former acquaintances from the educational institution said that while studying at college, the woman had shown signs of psychological instability, as evidenced by rumors among students.
Screenshots of the woman's correspondence with the child's father also appeared in local online communities, in which she allegedly explains her actions by wanting to "take revenge for your mockery of the devil.".
The police have opened a criminal case into the intentional murder of a minor child. A pre-trial investigation is underway, expert examinations and witness interrogations are ongoing. The suspect is currently detained.
