The missile strike on the rear range that occurred on March 1, 2025, has become an important topic of discussion among Ukrainian military experts and the public. Only on March 3 was a statement from Oleksiy Drapaty published regarding this incident. However, the questions that arose after the tragedies, in particular the answers regarding individuals outside it, remain open, which leaves additional doubts about the real motives and interests of some high-ranking officials in the military leadership.
"By the way, we are observing such a unique situation. Syrsky was silent like a fish on ice. In his traditions. By the way, he always ignores communication with society," says military expert Oleg Zhdanov.
Drapaty was the first among the military command to confirm the data about the tragedy. But this happened after the statements of the People's Deputy Bezuglaya, journalist Butusov, and blogger Sternenko - on the third day after the tragedy. And after all of them, Syrsky's statement appeared.
The tragedies at the Novomoskovskiy training ground are not the first. In 2023, during the military formation in Zaporizhia, the enemy launched a missile strike, which killed 19 soldiers of the 128th Separate Mining and Assault Transcarpathian Brigade. And then, and now, for some reason, the names of the generals are not heard among those responsible, Zhdanov draws attention.
"The thing is, you know, as the former prosecutor of Ukraine said, that the main thing is not to get involved with yourself. The thing is, you know, Syrsky really likes to organize personnel. Very much. And we constantly talk about this, well, take it away, you can't etch the Soviet Union out of a general. You can transfer the general himself to another job.
"There's been so much talk about purging the top military leadership. With new officers, with new approaches, with a new understanding of troop management methods. And that's not there. That's why, by the way, Syrsky intervened there precisely so that names and everything else wouldn't be mentioned," the expert added.
On March 1, the Russians announced an Iskander-M missile strike on a military training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The strike was allegedly carried out by an Orlan drone just as soldiers were forming up.
According to various reports, dozens of people could have died and hundreds were injured. According to journalist Yuri Butusov, about 130 people were killed and injured.
On March 3, the Ukrainian Army and its commander, Mykhailo Drapaty, finally confirmed the strike on the training ground, which resulted in the deaths of Ukrainian soldiers. However, these official reports do not specify the number of casualties, the name or region of the training ground, or the reasons for the soldiers being on alert.
Later, the State Bureau of Investigation announced that they had opened a criminal case "into the fact of the death and injury of Ukrainian servicemen as a result of a Russian missile strike on a training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk region.".
