US President Donald Trump said Russian leader Vladimir Putin will not refuse to conclude an agreement to end the war in Ukraine. At the same time, he expressed his disappointment with Putin's recent statements about President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
"I do not think that Putin will give up his words about the intention to conclude a ceasefire agreement," Trump said, commenting on the likelihood of completion of hostilities.
According to Trump, the US has made some progress in negotiations on a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. However, he stressed that there is a "psychological deadline" when the war should be stopped.
Trump also criticized Putin's latest statements about the President of Ukraine. Earlier, the Russian leader hinted at the possibility of "temporary governance of Ukraine under the auspices of the UN", which in fact casts doubt on the legitimacy of Zelensky.
"I have been disappointed in some way. Some things that Putin said in the last day or two, especially about Zelensky-when he believes that Zelensky does not deserve trust ... He would have to conclude an agreement with him whether he likes or not," the US president emphasized.
In addition to the war in Ukraine, Trump also spoke about the possibility of introducing secondary duties against Russia. He noted that he would not want to take such measures, but did not rule them out. In addition, he declared his intention to strengthen sanctions against Venezuela and other countries, which, he said, was "deceived" by Washington for a long time.
We will remind, Donald Trump previously expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that, despite the previous arrangements about the "mini -Peremic", attacks between Ukraine and Russia continue. The American leader is trying to find a solution that would end the war, but he is concerned about the inconsistency of the parties to the conflict.
