The NATO Summit organizers, which will take place on June 24-25 in the Hague, prepare the event, taking into account the possible conflict behavior of US President Donald Trump. According to The Telegraph , there is no personal meeting between Trump and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky because of the risk of public conflict.
In addition, there will not be meetings of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (“Format Ramstein”) or coalitions of countries that initiated control over the observance of the truce between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. The so -called "Coalition of those who want", headed by the United Kingdom and France, will also leave outside the basic agenda.
In order to avoid differences between Trump and other leaders, the US president is preparing the shortest communique as possible - one page. In it, NATO recognizes Russia as a threat and confirms the support of Ukraine, but without specific mention of the prospects of its entry into the Alliance.
The document also removed any mention of climate and China, although in the previous final statements NATO was explicitly indicated by China in Moscow's support.
It will be the first NATO summit under the chairmanship of Mark Rutte - the newly elected Alliance Secretary General - and the first to be held in the Netherlands. The event will be held at the World Forum conference center.
