Donald Trump, the likely candidate for the post of president of the United States from the Republican Party, plans to appoint retired lieutenant general Keith Kellogg as a special representative for Ukraine if he returns to power. This was reported by the Reuters with reference to its own sources.
The press reported in June that the essence of his plan was to stop hostilities by freezing them along the front line, and to force Kyiv and Moscow to negotiate.
Kellogg, 80, was the White House National Security Council chief of staff during Trump's first presidency.
Another candidate for the post of special envoy for Ukraine is Richard Grenell, former acting director of national intelligence under Trump. Some sources call him the favorite.
In July, Grenell advocated the creation of "autonomous zones" to end the war, Ukraine's refusal to join NATO, and once again forcing Kyiv and Moscow to negotiate to end the war as quickly as possible by reducing or increasing military aid to Ukraine.
