US President Donald Trump has been severely criticized by American politicians who, in his opinion, encourage Ukraine to continue the war with Russia. He stated this when talking to journalists after arriving in New Jersey.
In particular, Trump responded to the correspondent's question on the actions of the Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and the former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Both politicians, according to the journalist, put pressure on Kiev, insisting on the need to continue the fighting.
In response, Trump stated that such rhetoric was dangerous:
"It can have serious consequences for those who say it. Politicians should be cautious in their statements about the war," Trump said.
He also hinted at the presence of some progress in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, but did not disclose the details.
"There are some shifts, but now the main thing is to prevent escalation, especially from those who comment on this war irresponsibly," the ex-president of the United States said.
Trump is not the first time calling for de -escalation and termination of war. In his previous statements, he repeatedly promised that in the event of a return to the White House "he would be able to complete the conflict within 24 hours."
