US President Donald Trump, according to Politico with reference to sources, has annoyed the reception of Vladimir Zelensky in Europe after their public conflict in the White House. His indignation was caused by both Zelensky meeting with the King of the United Kingdom and demonstrative support from European leaders, including London.
“Trump annoyed the events of that Sunday - not only a visit to Zelensky to the British monarch, but also a common picture: Europe hugs it. One of the British officials said that the Trump team "did not like it, what it looked ... How it all happened," - writes Politico.
Sources in the British government also suggest that Trump's reaction could encourage London to put more pressure on Kiev so that he would agree to negotiate the war.
However, instead of compliance, Zelensky made another statement: on Sunday evening, during an interview, he said that the peaceful settlement of the conflict was "very, very far". According to US officials, this statement became a "trigger", which forced Trump to stop military assistance to Ukraine over the next day.
After that, France and the United Kingdom tried to resolve tensions in relations, however, according to Politico, a tense atmosphere is still maintained between the US and Ukraine presidents.
