An investigation by the Chesno movement has revealed potential corrupt ties between the Batkivshchyna political party (formerly known as the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc) and dozens of companies that received state funding. The analysis indicates that the party regularly made payments to companies whose leaders previously worked as assistants to MPs from this political force.
Who does the money go to?
During the period from 2016 to 2023, Batkivshchyna repeatedly cooperated with MC-finance LLC, transferring more than UAH 8.6 million to the company. The head of the company since 2009 is Volodymyr Shakalo, who also held the position of assistant to several people's deputies, in particular Oleg Belorus, Oleksandr Turchynov, Valery Babenko, and Oleksandr Abdullin.
The report also states that the party has been paying International Industrial Projects LLC, which has ties to Yulia Tymoshenko's family, since 2017. The total amount transferred to this company amounted to over UAH 7 million.
In total, out of more than 120 companies that Batkivshchyna paid from state funding, 22 contractors were found to have probable ties to the party. They received UAH 67 million from the political force. These figures indicate that Batkivshchyna is actively using state funds to support companies that are likely related to its activities.
The study also points to the risks of corruption schemes associated with state funding of parties, which calls into question the transparency of financial flows and their legitimate use.
