Next year, the state will introduce free psychological assistance for veterans and their relatives, the Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, Yulia Laputina, announced during the live broadcast of the national telethon "Yedini Novyni".
"Every defender who returns from the front should be able to take care of his mental health. Our task now is to create an effective system of psychological assistance available to every veteran who needs it. At the initiative of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, in December the Government approved a resolution improving the provision of psychological assistance to veterans and their families in non-clinical cases," said Yulia Laputina.
The minister emphasized that such assistance will be free of charge and will be provided according to a three-tier system. The second and third levels will be financed from the budget of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. Provision of high-quality psychological assistance is foreseen, in particular, in local communities, where Ukrainian defenders will return.
"The Ministry of Veterans will compensate the cost of psychological assistance services provided to specialized institutions of any form of ownership, including individual entrepreneurs who provide such services. This means that next year the state will take over the costs of psychological assistance to veterans and their families, providing them with these services free of charge," Yulia Laputina emphasized.
"Mental health is one of the main components of a person's overall health. Thank you for the fact that we will reimburse the services of psychologists working in communities, it will be easier for veterans to apply for professional help and receive it on the spot," the head of the Ministry of Veterans emphasized.
We would like to remind that Ukraine has already introduced a three-level system of psychological assistance to veterans, which includes social and psychological support, psychological assistance and complex medical and psychological assistance provided free of charge.
