Local residents of the village of Soshinivka discovered an interesting artifact near the ruins of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. At a depth of about 1 meter, they unearthed a well-preserved ancient wrought-iron window frame. This was reported by local historian Svitlana Kiyak.
Note that the special thing is that the frame was not only quite well preserved, but also remained unnoticed for many years, despite the active activities of "black archaeologists" and local diggers around the temple. The discovery became possible after the first outdoor Divine Liturgy was held in November 2023 on the foundation of the temple ruins.
The history of the church in the village of Soshinivka has ancient and unusual roots. Sloboda, called Shoshinivka, probably got its name from the lieutenant colonel of the Dnipro pike regiment Yakiv Shoshin. The first wooden temple appeared here in 1784 on a cliff above the Dnieper and served as a landmark for those rafting down the river.
In 1903, a stone temple was built in honor of the Icon of the Kazan Mother of God. However, during the times of the USSR, the church was closed, and in the early 1960s it was blown up before being flooded by the Dniprodzerzhyn Reservoir. This act of remembrance left a stone foundation on the bank of the river.
