In Khmelnytskyi, a woman gave birth at home and left the child in a garbage dump

A shocking event happened in Khmelnytskyi on January 15, 2025. A 36-year-old local woman gave birth to a boy at home, wrapped the child in a towel and, without giving him any help, threw the newborn into the garbage. The child was discovered by passers-by near the garbage cans, after which police officers, forensic experts and doctors rushed to the scene.

The incident became known around 7:50 p.m., when a group of passers-by contacted the police with a report that near the trash cans on the street. They found Ternopil's newborn baby. Fortunately, women and men who witnessed this terrible situation immediately reported the discovery to law enforcement officers and called an ambulance.

The child was immediately taken to the Khmelnytskyi City Children's Hospital, where doctors in the intensive care unit provided the necessary assistance. Now the baby is under the supervision of doctors.

Thanks to quick operational and search measures, the police soon established the identity of the woman who left her child in the garbage. She turned out to be a 36-year-old local resident who gave birth at home without consulting doctors or medical institutions. After the baby was born, the woman wrapped it in a towel and threw it in a plastic bag in the trash.

Law enforcement officials report that the woman in labor was also hospitalized, and her condition is currently stable.

Investigators of the Khmelnytskyi District Police Department have started criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - "Leaving in danger". According to this article, for such actions, the violator may receive restrictions or deprivation of liberty for a term of up to three years.

Thanks to the quick response of caring citizens and doctors, the baby was able to avoid the worst consequences. The child, who was thrown into the garbage can in a critical condition, received the necessary help and her life is currently out of danger. However, the baby's health remains under the constant supervision of doctors.

The police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident. All the facts that could help explain the motives of the woman who left her child without care are established. However, investigators already indicate that such cases are extremely dangerous both for the child's health and for the family in general. The criminal proceedings indicate the seriousness of the situation and, according to forecasts, it may lead to severe sanctions for the violator.

This case became a vivid reminder of the importance of a mother's responsibility to her child and how important it is to seek medical help during childbirth, as well as the need to seek support in time if a woman is unable to care for her baby on her own.

We hope that the baby will be okay and that he will receive all the care that he needs, and that the responsibility for leaving him in the garbage rests on whoever did this terrible thing.
