In the Polish city of Krakow, a 24-year-old Ukrainian citizen was involved in a large-scale traffic accident, which injured 19 people, four of whom are in serious condition.
The accident occurred in the Nowa Huta area. According to preliminary information, a Ukrainian, while driving a car, violated traffic rules and collided with a bus carrying passengers. After the impact, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. Three other cars were also damaged.
Fire brigades, ambulances, and an emergency medical service helicopter were quickly at the scene of the incident.
According to the Malopolska Voivodeship Office, three people in serious condition were hospitalized in hospitals in Krakow, and another one in a medical facility in Olkusz. The remaining victims were taken to several hospitals in the city, and two were treated without hospitalization.
Polish media reports that the Ukrainian was driving a car with the logo of a transport company, but was not engaged in commercial transportation at the time of the accident. It was also established that the driver was sober.
The possibility of being charged with causing a traffic accident is currently being considered. If found guilty, the Ukrainian faces up to 10 years in prison.
