The Kremlin is trying to shift responsibility for delaying war in Ukraine to other parties. Russian Presidential President Dmitry Peskov said the prospects for completing a full -scale conflict would depend on the "Kiev position" as well as on the US efforts.
“Much depends on the position of the Kiev regime. It depends on how effectively Washington's intermediary efforts will continue, ”he said during a comment for the media.
Peskov also stressed that another decisive factor is allegedly "the situation on the ground", referring to the fighting on the front. However, he did not name any specific proposals or expectations presented by the Kremlin or Washington.
In turn, Reuters notes that the promises of former US President Donald Trump to complete the war in Ukraine "in one day" after returning to the authorities, until they received any confirmation or implementation plan. After five months of the Republican campaign, no clear vision of the settlement or negotiation process appeared.
The next round of peace talks has not been appointed. At the same time, Turkey, which was already a dialogue between Kiev and Moscow, confirmed its readiness to accept the participants at the table of negotiations.
Peskov's statements once again illustrate the attempt of the Russian authorities to create that the West and Ukraine are responsible for the duration of the war, while avoiding a direct answer to the question: what specifically requires the Kremlin - and what concessions consider it acceptable.
