The Svyatoshinsky District Court of Kyiv found guilty of a 42-year-old man in the rape and murder of a 69-year-old resident of the capital. The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The crime occurred in August 2024. The woman agreed to meet a friend with whom she had previously maintained a friendly relationship. According to the investigation, the man invited her for a walk to the green zone in the Svyatoshinsky district of Kiev. The meeting began peacefully - with flowers, a joint hike to the market and alcohol.
However, as investigators were installed, there was a quarrel between acquaintances. In her course, the man committed sexual abuse and then strangled the woman. After the murder, he covered the body with a blanket and escaped from the crime scene.
The attacker had previously served his sentence - in 2005 he was sentenced to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea for rape and theft. This time he tried to avoid responsibility, but his identity was quickly installed and detained.
The court found the man guilty of committing crimes under Articles 115 (premeditated murder) and 152 (rape) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Prior to the entry into force of the sentence, it will remain in custody.
