Against the background of the New Year holidays in Kyiv, the authorities decided not to cancel the curfew, nor to reduce its duration. This decision was taken in view of the security climate in the country, which remains tense due to the war with Russia.
This was reported in the Kyiv City Military Administration.
"The curfew for the New Year and holidays will not change. As always, all services responsible for security, in particular, patrols of the National Police and the Defense Forces, will work in an enhanced mode. There will be no public celebrations," Mykhailo Shamanov, representative of KMVA, told reporters.
On New Year's holidays, it will be prohibited to be on the street, in public places, to move by transport without a special pass or on foot from 00:00 to 05:00, as on other days, emphasized the KMVA.
"Leaving the house at night is allowed only during an air raid to reach the nearest shelter. It is necessary to take an identity document with you," the Kyiv City State Administration explained to journalists.
It is noted that the operating hours of the metro will most likely not be extended, as the curfew has remained unchanged. In Kyiv, underground transport operates from 06:00 to 23:00 and around the clock as a shelter during an air raid alert. Ground transportation is available from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
