Law enforcement officers uncovered a criminal scheme of writing off and illegal sale of military property, which was intended for one of the territorial defense brigades of the city. According to information from the State Bureau of Investigation, the perpetrators stole various military equipment and clothing worth at least 3.6 million hryvnias.
During the searches, law enforcement officers found large stocks of military property in a warehouse in one of the Kyiv garages, intended for further sale via the Internet. It is noted that the stolen property was marked with tags from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which the perpetrators cut out before selling.
Military personnel who organized the write-off of property and civilians who sold it participated in the criminal scheme. The organizer of the scheme was one of the civilians who had influence over the servicemen.
During an attempt to sell a part of military property worth more than 2 million hryvnias, law enforcement officers detained the organizer and two other people, including a military man, who tried to sell the property at a "discount" of almost 50%.
The organizer and participants of the criminal scheme were informed of suspicion of misappropriation of military property organized by the group. In general, charges were brought against them, provided for in parts 3 and 5 of article 27, part 3 of article 28 and part 4 of article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, for which they face up to fifteen years of imprisonment.
