In Kyiv, law enforcement officers have completed an investigation into a young man accused of stealing funds from a 17-year-old orphan's scholarship account. The perpetrator illegally gained access to the victim's bank card and embezzled 13,600 hryvnias, which he spent on his birthday celebration.
A 20-year-old businessman will go on trial in Kyiv for stealing 13,600 hryvnias in scholarship money intended for a minor orphan through a banking app. The young man spent the money on a birthday celebration, Kyiv police reported.
The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was friends with the offender and the day before, he had accessed his personal account in the bank's mobile application from his phone.
The businessman, having access to online banking, transferred to his card funds from an acquaintance, which he received as a scholarship from an educational institution and social assistance as an orphan. Later, the attacker celebrated his birthday with these funds.
The police informed the young man of their suspicions and sent the indictment to court. He faces up to 8 years in prison.
