A trial has begun in Kyiv against a nanny who is accused of punching a 4-year-old girl in the face on a bus. A recent incident was caught on video, which caused outrage among the public.
An indictment was sent to the court against the babysitter for intentionally hitting the child in the face, which did not cause bodily harm (Part 1 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
In April 2024, a video of a woman slapping a girl on a bus was published on social networks. This video was immediately seen by the mother of a 4-year-old child, who recognized her daughter and nanny in it. The woman turned to the police and immediately stopped cooperating with the nanny, the prosecutor's office said.
"The nanny explained to the law enforcement officers that she slapped the child to prevent her from falling asleep. She apparently agreed on this with the 4-year-old girl with whom she was going to church that day," the message states.
For the offense committed, the accused faces a fine of up to 50 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or community service for a period of up to two hundred hours, or correctional work for a period of up to one year.
