On December 1, the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge, a long-awaited infrastructure structure, the construction of which lasted more than 30 years, was officially opened in Kyiv. This bridge has become an important stage in the development of the transport network of the capital and will significantly facilitate traffic in the central areas of the city.
In the capital, the Podilsky bridge crossing was opened for passenger cars and public transport. Passage is possible through a new tunnel connecting the bridge with Vershigory Street, significantly shortening the journey from Troeshchyna to the center. The mayor of the city, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced this on Sunday.
As Klitschko pointed out, now you can drive onto the bridge: from the right bank - from St. Naberezhno-Khreshchatytska embankment, and exit at St. Peter Vershigory; from the left bank, the entrance is from St. Petra Vershigory, exit — at St. Naberezhno-Rybalsk embankment.
In particular, the route also runs through a newly constructed tunnel that connects the overpass with the exit to the street. Vershigory in the direction of Roman Shukhevych Avenue and the Troyeshchyna housing estate. So it is now much faster to get from Troeshchyna to the city center, Klychko noted.
For the time being, the Podilsky bridge crossing will remain closed for heavy goods vehicles.
According to Klitschko, work on improvement and arrangement of the adjacent territory, near the newly built tunnel, is still ongoing. They will be completed by the end of the year. Specialists work at the facility 24/7, the mayor added.
