The capital has a new example of irrational use of budget funds. The chief accountant of the Department of Education of the Podilsky District State Administration is suspected of negligence during the purchase of disposable tableware for shelters in schools.
According to the information published by Kyiv police, it is about the purchase of kitchen utensils for 70 shelves located in educational institutions of Podilskyi district. The contract with the supplier was concluded in 2023, and according to the payment order signed by the chief accountant, the entrepreneur received almost UAH 1 million from the city budget.
However, as part of the judicial investigation, law enforcement officers established a significant excess of the value of goods compared to market prices. The amount of possible loss for the budget is about 150 thousand hryvnias - it was so much overpayed for disposable glasses, plates and spoons.
Currently, the chief accountant is suspected of negligence, which has caused damage to the local budget. The audits are ongoing, and the police emphasize: the official as a financially responsible person, is directly responsible for the inefficient spending.
