After reports of an outbreak of hepatitis A in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv, fears spread among residents about a possible infection through drinking water. However, Kyivvodokanal states that the quality of the water supplied to Kyiv residents meets all sanitary standards, and information about its contamination is not confirmed by any studies.
As the company noted, the results of laboratory tests, including those conducted by government agencies, did not reveal any deviations. Water quality is monitored 24/7 at all stages - from treatment plants to the distribution network, including sampling points in the capital's neighborhoods.
In particular, in Solomyanskyi district, water samples were taken immediately after the first reports of the disease appeared. All test results, including samples from Shalimova, Montazhnyky, Vasylenko and other streets, confirmed that the drinking water meets regulatory requirements.
As a preventive measure, Kyivvodokanal also conducted additional flushing of water supply networks in a number of houses in the district. Repeated testing again did not reveal any dangerous indicators.
At the same time, the company emphasizes: deterioration in water quality may occur not in the centralized network, but in house pipes. Their balance holders - housing associations, condominiums or private owners - are responsible for internal networks. They are recommended to regularly carry out technical flushing of water supply systems.
As a reminder, on May 22, a hepatitis A testing point was opened in Vidradny Park. The Kyiv Center for Disease Control and Prevention noted that an epidemiological investigation is underway to determine the source of the infection. However, tap water has already been ruled out as a risk factor.
