Police of Dnipropetrovsk region and the Office of the Prosecutor General revealed the murder of former deputy mayor of Kamyansky Alexander Plahotnik. A 54-year-old local resident is suspected of committing a crime, who, according to the investigation, killed the official because of unwillingness to repay the debt.
The crime was committed on March 28. The suspect came to the victim's house, where he made at least 10 firearms. Plahotnik was killed on the spot from the injuries.
According to investigators, the attacker monitored the former deputy mayor for several months: he studied routes, collected information and even installed video cameras near his house. After the murder, the attacker burned the car he used for tracking and fled to the Lviv region.
The next day, March 29, the suspect was detained. During the searches in his apartment, law enforcement officers found an arsenal: weapons, ammunition, F-1 grenade with passion, electronic media, phones and camouflage clothing.
According to preliminary data, the main motive of the murder was the financial obligations of the suspect to the Plahotnik, which he did not want to fulfill. This was the cause of careful preparation and bold crime.
On April 1, the attacker was reported suspected of two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - premeditated murder for selfish reasons (paragraph 6 of Part 2 of Article 115) and illegal handling of weapons (Part 1 of Article 263).
The suspect is currently threatening from 10 to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing.
