In the case of the tragic death of the five-year-old Veles Pashnik, after the procedure of removal of milk teeth in Lviv, a suspicion of anesthesiologist was announced in Lviv. The investigation found that she worked with children without proper specialized education using counterfeit documents.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on February 10. The issue of election of a suspected preventive measure and removing it from work is currently being considered.
In December 2023, during the treatment of teeth in the private clinic of Lviv, a boy fell into a coma due to the false tactics of anesthesiological support. During the month, the baby died without having come to mind.
The investigation found that the doctor responsible for anesthesia did not have the necessary qualification to work with children. Although her diploma was allowed to work with adult patients, in August 2023 she acquired a fake certificate of pediatric anesthesiologist.
The suspect is accused of:
- Provision of medical services without special permission , which led to grave consequences (Article 138 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
- Improper performance of professional duties that caused the death of the patient (Part 2 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
- Forgery of documents and their use (Part 3 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation claims that the doctor deliberately used counterfeit documents to get a clinic and carry out anesthesia for children, although she had no appropriate training or experience.
The death of Veles Pashnik has become a shock for the whole country. This tragedy raised questions about the quality control of medical services, the work of private clinics and to check the documents of medical professionals.
The public requires not only a fair investigation of this case, but also the reform of the doctors' licensing system to prevent repetition of such cases.
This tragedy is a reminder of how important professionalism and responsibility in the field of medicine is. The fair punishment of the perpetrators and the strengthening of control in the medical field should be steps to protect patients' lives.
