The Ukrainian citizens, for whose murder the Russian was suspected, were both servicemen who were undergoing medical rehabilitation in Bavaria after receiving injuries.
A high-profile double murder took place on April 27 in Murnau am Staffelsee. Two citizens of Ukraine, men born in 1987 and 2001, were found with fatal stab wounds on the territory of a local shopping center.
"According to preliminary data, the dead citizens were military personnel undergoing medical rehabilitation in Germany. Ukrainian consuls are clarifying information about the units in which the deceased served, and establishing contact with their relatives," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The diplomats also confirmed that the person detained on suspicion of this murder turned out to be a Russian.
On Sunday, the 57-year-old Russian, detained after this crime, was remanded in custody.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, instructed to keep the case under special control and to be in constant contact with the law enforcement agencies of Germany, so that the murderer was punished according to the strictness of the law. He also expressed his gratitude to the German law enforcement officers for the prompt arrest of the suspect.
