As a result of intensive rocket fire on the territory of Ukraine on December 29, the number of victims in Odessa increased to four people by Friday evening. It is noted that due to these losses, a day of mourning was declared in Odessa and the region on Saturday.
This information was released by the head of the Odessa regional government, Oleg Kiper. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, bodies were found under the rubble, which led to an increase in the total number of dead to 4 people.
"As a result of enemy shelling in Odessa, a three-story residential building was damaged, where the body of a deceased woman was discovered. This was the result of a fire caused by rocket fire. 23 people were evacuated from this building, and 4 people were injured," the report states.
The search for people in a 16-story residential building, where a missile strike caused destruction and a fire on the upper floors, is also ongoing. According to data obtained as a result of rescue operations, 23 people were evacuated, 5 people were saved, and 6 people, including two children, were injured. Unfortunately, two people were found dead.
Earlier, the Odessa regional prosecutor's office reported three deaths. According to the investigation, early in the morning of December 29, enemy forces carried out a large-scale missile strike on Odessa. The attack resulted in significant destruction of residential buildings, fires, and numerous injuries. At the moment, 3 deaths and 26 injuries are known, including children and law enforcement officers.
