In Poltava, two men staged a photo shoot with the USSR Naval Flag, which violated Ukrainian legislation. The incident happened on July 27 on one of the beaches in the Podilskyi district of the city, where they posed in the tans and uniforms with two flags - the State Flag of Ukraine and the forbidden symbol of the Soviet Army.
The video from the event quickly flew through the network after publishing in the Telegram channel "Trukha Poltava". Already in the evening of the same day, police reported that the persons of the persons were established and the fact of the violation was registered.
Law enforcement officers stressed that they find out the circumstances and are preparing to bring the perpetrators to liability.
In Ukraine, the Law on the Prohibition of Propagation of the Communist totalitarian regime, adopted in 2015, is in force. According to Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code, public use of the symbolism of the USSR is a crime for which up to five years in prison, and under aggravating circumstances-up to ten years.
Administrative punishment is also possible - a fine of 850 to 2550 hryvnias with confiscation of the flag, although this article is usually applied to the use of St. George's tape. In cases with Soviet symbols, as in Poltava, criminal proceedings are more likely to be opened.
Recall that in 2019, the Constitutional Court found a law on decommunization that corresponds to the Constitution, despite numerous attempts to challenge it in courts.
