Volodymyr Malyuga, head of the Department of Internal and Own Security of the Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, has not publicly declared his assets for a long time, explaining this by the need to ensure his personal security due to the specifics of his position.
During the war in Ukraine, Malyuga significantly improved his financial situation by hiding his assets among relatives. This information is confirmed by data from the registers analyzed by the editorial staff.
It is important to note that Malyuga joined the State Border Service of Ukraine only in 2023, having previously headed the internal security department of the State Customs Service. His dismissal from the customs service occurred during a scandal related to the illegal export of grain , smuggling of cigarettes and other goods under the guise of humanitarian aid, which led to the resignation of the leadership of the State Customs Service.

What kind of fortune did Malyuga earn while working as a customs officer and how he enriched himself will now be investigated by specialized law enforcement agencies.
At the same time, some of what was "acquired" over the years of "customs service" was established by analyzing data from the Registers of both Malyuga himself and his closest relatives.
So, in 2023, Malyuga became the owner of two land plots at once, with a total area of about 3 hectares.
- from 05/26/23, land plot with an area of 1.962 hectares, cadastral number 4622710200:09:000:0433;
- from 05/26/23, land plot with an area of 0.9801 ha, cadastral number 4622710200:09:000:0423
He also purchased two more plots of 2 hectares each at the height of the war – at the end of 2022 (cadastral numbers 4622710200:09:000:0435 – 1.926 hectares, 4622710200:09:000:0422 – 2 hectares). And another one, with an area of 2 hectares – in 2020: cadastral number 4625884500:08:000:0129.
But most of the assets, cars, and real estate that appeared in Malyuga's family after his "customs" tenure were not registered in his name.
In particular, his second wife, Olga Malyuga, in September 2022 – also during a full-scale war – became the owner of a Tesla Model 3 (2020). Also, since the end of 2022, she has become a businesswoman, having received the position of director of LLC TEOLARIS, which is engaged in real estate leasing.
Malyuga's son from his first marriage, Mykhailo, in 2023 became the owner of 9 land plots and a house in Lviv with an area of 253.8 sq. m. And these assets were registered to him allegedly under the guise of an inheritance. The legality of the origin of this property is also doubtful due to the fact that no other family member (and Mykhailo's brother, in particular) received any inheritance from anyone during this period of time.
In addition, this same official's son also became the owner of a Honda motorcycle in 2023.
The former wife of the customs officer, Kateryna, in 2023 received a parking space in Lviv as a gift, and in 2022 she became the owner of an apartment - also in Lviv - with a total area of 82.9 sq m.
Some of Malyuga's assets, acquired, in particular, from 2020 to 2022, are registered to his father-in-law, his wife's sister, and others - even more distant relatives of the official. These are mainly real estate and land.
The pace of accumulation of the former customs officer's wealth obviously does not correspond to the size of his official income. Since the salaries of SMS employees, according to public statements by the former acting head of the Service, Vyacheslav Demchenko, amounted to from 9 to 17 thousand UAH.
Note that the SBU recently detained a subordinate of Malyuga (head of the internal security group of the internal and own security department, Neprelyuk Yu.A.) for organizing the illegal smuggling of people across the state border of Ukraine. And it was claimed that "according to operational materials, Malyuga actually coordinated the work of "crossing channels" for evaders abroad in various border regions of Ukraine."
We will remind, earlier, because of the assets registered in the name of a relative – a brother – the former deputy head of the OP Andriy Smirnov received suspicion from the NABU. On charges of illegal enrichment, he has already been given a preventive measure in the form of a 10 million bail.
