Hot discussions have been launched in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine about the possibility of temporary restriction of mobile communication during Russia's air attacks. It is primarily about situations where the enemy uses drones-Kamikadze, using Ukrainian mobile networks to adjust the blows.
This was reported by a member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Fedor Venislavsky in a comment to UNIAN.
According to him, the issue was discussed at one of the last meetings of the profile committee:
“There were very hot discussions, and the decision was made to recommend the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to develop algorithms of action in such situations. The enemy really uses our mobile base stations to reconciliate coordinates and overcome. It increases the accuracy of Russian blows”.
Currently, all the components of the security and defense sector are involved in the situation. The main task is to determine whether it is possible to neutralize the threat without mass disconnections.
According to the deputy, there are several options now. One of them is the locking of only those SIM cards that are used by the enemy, but the implementation of this is technically complicated.
" There is a position that blocking specific SIM cards does not solve the problem, because these cards can be immediately activated, conduct coordinate reconciliation-and then it makes no sense to turn them off ," Venislavsky added.
Another scenario is a temporary shutdown of mobile communications in the drone span, but it also has both technical and humanitarian risks.
The final conclusions should be given by technical expertise. If it is proved that only the disconnection of mobile communications will be able to interfere with the accurate guidance of drones, the government should offer the mechanism of implementation - with the involvement of mobile, Ministry of Defense and SBU operators.
No decision has been made yet, but all the scenarios are on the table. If necessary, the Verkhovna Rada is ready to make the appropriate legislative decision.
