In Rivne, the first case of a tropical malaria was confirmed in 2025. A resident of the region who recently returned from the trip to India. This was reported by the Rivne Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
According to doctors, the first symptoms appeared in a woman about two weeks after returning home. She went to the family doctor, after which she was hospitalized in the infectious ward of the Rivne Central City Hospital. There, doctors made a diagnosis - malaria caused by the most dangerous pathogen of Plasmodium Falciparum.
Recall this is the most aggressive form of malaria, which without timely treatment can lead to serious complications and even death.
According to official information, this is the first case of malaria in the Rivne region since 2022.
Currently, experts of the Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention have started the necessary epidemiological and preventive measures:

conduct an entomological examination of the territory,

set the limits of a possible cell of infection,

identify the circle of contact persons who could be at risk.
Doctors are reminded that when returning from countries with high risk of malaria, especially from South Asia and Africa, it is important to carefully monitor health. In the case of symptoms - fever, chills, headache, weakness - you should immediately consult a doctor and report the fact of a recent trip.
