In Sumy, the case of officials of the State Consumer Service suspected of systemic bribery was transferred to court

Prosecutors of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office completed the pre -trial investigation and submitted to the court an indictment on the head of one of the district departments of the Main Department of the State Consumer Service in Sumy Oblast and his deputy. Both officials are accused of extorting and systematic receipt of bribes, which qualifies under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the executives demanded from representatives of small and medium -sized businesses a monthly cash "reward" for unimpeded entrepreneurial activity. In case of refusal to entrepreneurs were threatened with checks, penalties and administrative pressure.

Law enforcement officers recorded several episodes of the transfer of funds. The total amount of undue benefit that officials have managed to receive is about UAH 250,000. In February 2025, both defendants were detained while receiving another bribe.

After detention, the officials were removed from work. The court chose a pre -trial detention measure with the right to make a bail: for the head of the department - 908 thousand hryvnias, for his deputy - 606 thousand. Subsequently, both suspects were liberty after the corresponding amounts were introduced.

The case has now been transferred to court. If their guilt is proven, officials are threatened with five to ten years in prison with confiscation of property and a ban on holding executives within three years.
