The Verkhovna Rada is offered to increase compensation to deputies for renting up to 27 thousand hryvnias

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Regulation, Parliamentary Ethics and Organization of Parliament Sergey Kalchenko (faction "Servant of the People") initiated an increase in compensation for people's deputies for renting housing or removal of the hotel room in Kiev. The relevant project of the resolution is registered in parliament under No. 13216, Ukrainian News reports.

To date, compensation is carried out at the rate of UAH 650 per day, which provides deputies of 18 to 20 thousand hryvnias per month depending on the number of calendar days.

Kalchenko proposes to raise this amount to 27 thousand hryvnias a month. The explanatory note to the project states that the need for change is substantiated by a significant increase in the consumer price index for the period from 2018 to 2024.

According to Article 35 of the Law “On the Status of the People's Deputy of Ukraine”, the costs of providing the activities of the council include rental funds for deputies who do not have their own housing in Kiev and live more than 30 km from its borders.

According to the Ukrainian News, in December 2024, 113 MPs received compensation for the cost of renting housing from the state budget for a total amount of UAH 4.639 million.
