In Transcarpathia, parents will be fined for student absenteeism and more

In Transcarpathia, new rules have been introduced that oblige parents to bear responsibility for student absenteeism and other offenses of their children. According to the resolution of the Rakhiv city council, parents will be fined not only for the absence of children from school, but also for such violations as smoking, drinking alcohol, petty theft, hooliganism and other offenses.

Fines will be imposed on parents if their children do not attend classes without a valid reason or commit crimes or administrative offenses. For the first case of a student's absence, parents will receive a warning or a fine from 850 to 1,700 hryvnias. If the violation is repeated within a year, the fine will increase to 5,100 hryvnias.

It also introduces the obligation of educational institutions to notify the National Police and the Children's Service about the absence of a student for more than 10 days in a row without a valid reason. These measures are aimed at protecting children's rights to education and ensuring proper control over their behavior.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the Procedure for keeping records of school-aged children and students, which also provides for increased control by local authorities.
