CNN writes about this in its article.
A series of rapid offensive actions by Russia is challenging Ukraine's new line of defense, created after the withdrawal of troops from the key city of Avdiivka, CNN reports. The successes of the Russian army raise concerns about Kyiv's tactics and the position of the Armed Forces on the front line.
The Russian advance comes amid a deep ammunition crisis in the Ukrainian military, raising almost existential questions for frontline troops who are forced to ration ammunition and wonder how long they will be able to withstand Russian pressure.
Another sign of the growing sense of concern was that the new head of the Armed Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, twice last week scolded his subordinate officers for their poor work on this key part of the front.
Many Ukrainian soldiers expressed to CNN a sharp pessimism about the significance of the withdrawal from Avdiivka and subsequent defensive actions.
One of the officers on the front line said: “We feel [Russian] superiority in personnel, artillery and armored vehicles. They are moving forward little by little. We don't have many options here. To retreat or just wait until we... As sad as it sounds, until we are all killed."
