The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, announced the blocking of payments from the European Peace Fund in the amount of 6.5 billion euros, which were intended to compensate for the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
The reason for this decision was the transit of oil from the Russian company "Lukoil" through Hungary.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto said this in an interview with the TV channel ATV.
The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry was outraged by the difficulties in the transit of Russian oil through Ukraine to Hungary and Slovakia, whose energy supply was "under threat due to the actions of the Ukrainians."
"I also made it clear that until Ukraine resolves this issue, everyone should forget about the payment of 6.5 billion euros in compensation for the transfer of arms from the European Peace Fund, because what would it look like if we facilitated the payment of 6, 5 billion euros, while Ukraine threatens the security of our energy supply," he added.
Sijarto believes that the European Commission "should put pressure on Ukraine" to allow Lukoil to resume oil supplies through Ukrainian territory.
