Ukrainians abroad do not want to join the Ukrainian Legion

Polish Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosyniak-Kamysh announced on local television that among Ukrainians living abroad, there are still not enough people willing to form the Ukrainian Legion. This question caused discussion, because the creation of the legion aims to support Ukraine in the conditions of the ongoing conflict.

"We have prepared for this. We are not responsible for recruitment. However, the number of people who had to volunteer from the Ukrainian side is too small. At the beginning, these declarations were very high - that even one brigade, that is, several thousand people, could be formed. However, this did not happen," said Kosyniak-Kamysh.

It will be recalled that back in July, 3 days after the announcement of the creation of the Legion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, stated that several thousand people had already applied for membership.

Invitations were sent to Ukrainian refugees abroad by e-mail.
