A new Pentagon report released by Bloomberg states that both Ukraine and Russia face serious challenges in securing the necessary military resources for large-scale offensive operations. This can lead to a situation where both sides find themselves in a "dead end" of the conflict.
According to Pentagon estimates, Ukraine still lacks the ammunition needed to effectively counter Russian attacks. Although the U.S. Congress unblocked new military aid in April, Ukrainian forces remain combat-ready but lack the capability to launch a large-scale counteroffensive. It is expected that this situation may continue for at least another six months.
Russia, in turn, has chosen a strategy of depleting Ukrainian resources, however, according to the Pentagon, it does not have enough forces for a deep advance into Ukrainian territory. The former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, Mark Milley, also believes that the conflict may reach a dead end.
It was noted that Ukraine has succeeded in using ATACMS missile systems provided by the USA, which hit several key Russian military facilities, in particular in Sevastopol and Crimea. According to the report, Russia is trying to strengthen air defense in the region with the help of the S-500 system, but it has not demonstrated full combat capability and significant success, especially on the territory of the occupied peninsula.
