Ukraine and Russia have begun talks on the exchange of prisoners of war taking place in Kursk, The Financial Times reports. The decision was made possible thanks to contacts between the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubynets, and his Russian counterpart.
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, reported that his Russian counterpart had contacted him to begin discussions on a prisoner exchange. Ukrainian military intelligence confirmed that it was working on an exchange FT.
Kyiv does not disclose the exact number of Russian prisoners captured during the Kursk offensive, but officials told the FT that the number is measured in the hundreds, including many young conscripts.
