The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has revealed details of the negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and the United States, which are scheduled to take place on March 24 in Saudi Arabia. According to the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhyi, the meeting will be technical, and its main goal is to determine the parameters of the ceasefire.
According to Tykhy, the Ukrainian and American delegations are discussing mechanisms for monitoring and controlling various ceasefire options. The Ukrainian side is represented by energy specialists, military experts, and other specialists.
"Back in Jeddah, Ukraine agreed to the US proposal for a 30-day temporary cessation of the war. If Russia had also supported this initiative, the ceasefire could already be in effect. Instead, Moscow is putting forward new conditions and manipulating the situation," the Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized.
He emphasized that the talks in Saudi Arabia are a bilateral technical round between Ukraine and the United States. Contacts with Russian representatives are not planned.
In fact, on March 19, a telephone conversation took place between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States. Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump agreed that stopping attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure could be the first step towards a complete end to the war.
