Due to the border blockade and other factors, Ukraine has become a net importer of butter for the first time, said Serhiy Vovchenko, chairman of the supervisory board of the Milk Alliance holding. It is noted that this year the country was forced to purchase butter in Europe due to a number of difficulties, including the border blockade and restrictions on maritime logistics.
Vovchenko explained that due to the border blockade, oil trucks were waiting for three months instead of the usual 10 days. This situation created difficult conditions for producers and led to the first-ever oil shortage in Ukraine.
At the same time, he indicated that the company is also facing a shortage of milk, but continues to produce cheeses and dry whey. It was noted that significant volumes of dry whey in warehouses require export, but the lack of sea logistics complicates this process.
