This fall, Ukraine will begin the process of exchanging information about its citizens' bank accounts with European Union countries. This was announced by Ukrainian MP Nina Yuzhanina on her Telegram channel.
“The State Tax Service will receive information about the status of bank accounts of Ukrainian residents abroad, as well as a whole range of financial information about participants in international groups of companies in terms of foreign jurisdictions for paying taxes, income volumes, types of activities, number of employees, and much more,” she said.
According to her, this became possible after a positive report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on the “maturity” of the Ukrainian financial security system.
Information exchange will begin with 115 countries, including EU members, where over four million Ukrainian refugees live.
Recall that the law allowing such an exchange was adopted and signed by Zelensky in March 2023.
But this may affect not only ordinary Ukrainians. According to Yuzhanina, after the information exchange begins, it may turn out that “someone in power did not provide or did not provide all the information about controlled foreign companies.”.
She suggests that this is why liability for failure to submit such reporting was abolished until the end of martial law and for six months after it.
